Child Care Subsidy

The Child Care and Development Program helps families pay for the cost of child care. Households must meet the income requirements, and adults must have an approved “purpose of care,” or reason to need child care (see “Eligibility” below). The amount of financial assistance depends on household income and, if approved, payments are made directly to the approved child care provider. Approved child care providers include all providers licensed by the state or local child care licensing entity, as well as license-exempt providers, including family, friend and neighbor (FFN) providers who are approved to participate in the program.

NOTICE: Effective October 1, 2024 the income eligibility requirements for the State of Nevada Child Care Subsidy Program (not including Tribal Child Care Subsidy) have changed.

  • New Applicants (as of 10/1/24) will be eligible if their household income is at or below 41% of the State Median Income (SMI).
  • Renewal Applicants will continue to be eligible if their household income is at or below 49% of the State Median Income (SMI). Income and eligibility will not be re-evaluated until the current certificate is due for renewal and all active certificates will be honored through their expiration date.
