Child Care Subsidy - The Children’s Cabinet

The Child Care and Development Program helps families pay for the cost of child care. Households must meet the income requirements, and adults must have an approved “purpose of care,” or reason to need child care (see “Eligibility” below). The amount of financial assistance depends on household income and, if approved, payments are made directly to the approved child care provider. Approved child care providers include all providers licensed by the state or local child care licensing entity, as well as license-exempt providers, including family, friend and neighbor (FFN) providers who are approved to participate in the program.

The Children’s Cabinet operates the child care subsidy program for all counties in Nevada except Clark and Nye counties. The Children’s Cabinet also serves as one of two Child Care Resource and Referral agencies in the state, offering assistance online and by phone to help families find quality, licensed child care providers that meet their needs. In addition to these child care programs, The Children’s Cabinet services include parenting classes, an onsite food pantry, an onsite high school, free family counseling, wraparound case management, workforce development, and crisis intervention.

There are currently limited funds available for this program and some eligible families may be put on a waitlist until additional funds are available.

NOTICE: Effective October 1, 2024 the income eligibility requirements for the State of Nevada Child Care Subsidy Program (not including Tribal Child Care Subsidy) have changed.
